It’s not the heterosex, mind you—that’s apparently fine with the company that has published the previous 11 genital-filled issues of this swashbuckling (and surprisingly good) adventure comic. No, it’s the gays that really test Apple’s knicker-bunching abilities.
So let me say, for the first time on this blog: avoid Apple. They suck. They want to own every part of your digital experience and will never be content with, say, the OS market or the hardware market—they want it all. They and Google are evil. Microsoft is just poorly-organized and foolish. Those two are terrible, and it should tell you something about their corporate ethics that they spend a lot of time opposing gay rights.
Great quote from Brian K. Vaughn, via Bleeding Cool:
“As has hopefully been clear from the first page of our first issue, SAGA is a series for the proverbial “mature reader.” Unfortunately, because of two postage stamp-sized images of gay sex, Apple is banning tomorrow’s SAGA #12 from being sold through any iOS apps. This is a drag, especially because our book has featured what I would consider much more graphic imagery in the past, but there you go.”
UPDATE: Comixology says it’s responsible, not Apple, and the book will go on sale as planned. The company apologizes.
