Gary Panter Draws Bart Simpson

So I apologize for the size of this image but I thought it was so cool it deserved posting anyway: this is a drawing of Bart from “The Simpsons” by the astonishing Gary Panter; part of a subset of “Arty Art” chase cards from one of the Simpsons trading card sets. By far the best one, in my humble opinion. Thought you’d enjoy.

Little-known fact: Panter and Matt Groening are great friends; apparently the two of them had an agreement that they’d support each other depending on who got famous first, and Groening was as good as his word: the early “Jimbo” comics by Panter are published by an imprint of Bongo Comics (Groening’s own publishing company) called Zongo. They sold no copies and are now quite valuable; the last issue contained most of what would eventually become Panter’s oh-my-God-he’s-the-next-Picasso masterpiece, Jimbo’s Inferno.
